En Garde!
Hello healthy readers!
Blades in the air fighting like medieval swordsmen to protect the princesses in the castles against fire breathing dragons. I felt like I was brought centuries back while we were fencing. I wonder what it would feel like using real swords... They must be extremely heavy!
On April 16, we had a summary of what fencing is about. We watched a video and we were able to see all the blades that are used for Olympic fencing. It was a get-to-know the basics day. We also played really fun games that let us practice the basics for fencing.
On April 17, we practiced lunging and extending. I learned that it's best to keep your arm out first then lunge. If you lunge the same time as putting out your arm, you won't receive a longer distance. We were able to use and practice with rubber fencing swords. We also got to wear real fencing outfits! We had a chest protector, a fancy helmet that protects you no matter how hard you hit it, gloves, and a fencing jacket that you have to zip up through the side.
On April 18, we were able to use real fencing swords! It was set up like a real fencing tournament. We had buzzers and everything! It was fun to poke people with swords. It's not everyday that people tell you that's it's okay to hit people. (Haha!)
It was such a privilege to be able to work with Diana! I am very happy and thankful that I was able to have the opportunity to fence. It was an awesome experience!

Welcome people of the fit world! (Or people who want to be in the fit world like me.) I am in Get Fit class and this is my blog (that I have to do for school and this is totally mandatory) showing the world my adventures into becoming healthy and fit. Come and join my journey with me as I run through the treacherous fields of these beautiful Canadian hills and mountains. (Not really though.) Don't let me do this alone! Get yourself fit too at the same time!

Midterm Reflection
April 14, 2013
I feel like my progress in the class has definitely increased from when I first started out. My interests on physical activities have for sure widened. All the memorable opportunities I have been given have all been such a blast!
My view on being physical has totally changed. I feel like I am able to find many different activities that are not only very good for you but at the same time are enjoyable. It also doesn't feel like a chore or something that I HAVE to do. I've never had a negative perspective about being physical but it wasn't always something I pushed myself to do. Now, I know that being physical is definitely something I WANT to do. It doesn't feel like it is something required but more of having exciting opportunities. I now know that I am able to have fun yet be physical at the same time.
All the fitness days we had during Tuesdays and Thursdays have felt absolutely amazing after the workouts. During the workout definitely feels like your pushing hills and mountains to be together but after the workout always feels like such an accomplishment. Waking up feeling all the sores all over my body is definitely worth it. This is something I wish to continue even after Get Fit.
The days when I feel like I push myself so hard that I feel like I will faint, is definitely when we are running. Whether it's a pond run, community run, or even a hill run, I feel like that is when I am able to push myself the hardest. Being able to run along-side a friend and cheering each other on is definitely what pushes me beyond of what I think I am capable of.
I definitely still feel like I can go beyond what I am doing now. I would like to continue and do even more with my progress now.
I believe that I deserve an 88% based on my perseverance, determination, and attitude.

Leadership Role
April 9, 2013
Hello healthy readers!
Sorry for the lack of posting. (Oh, what a busy schedule.)
So last Tuesday, I was able to have the wonderful opportunity to work with such adorable kids in grade 1. It was a nice take on letting our class have leadership roles.
We had two grade 1 classes that were split into groups.
Our station was a new intake on "Simon Says." We had the same concept but added many physical movements to let the children be more active. Some physical movements we would tell them to do is "Hop like a bunny, do jumping jacks, twirl, jump on one leg, etc."
One of the stations did a dance. The kids were very ecstatic towards the "Gangnam Style" song by PSY. So whenever the song went on, almost every group we had would get distracted and started dancing. It was very cute. I was very impressed as well by the potential break-dancers that were there.
I enjoyed the energetic positive attitude most of the young kids had. What an exciting perspective towards everything that children have! It's quite inspiring.
We are returning again and I honestly can't wait. It was an awesome experience and I love this leadership role that we are luckily granted.
Thanks for your patience and reading my blog!
